Hurricane Beryl, all all hurricanes, are something we take very seriously. We wanted to share some tips for hurricane preparation whether you are on the gulf coast of anywhere that is in the vicinity of a tropical storm or hurricane.
The first thing we do is secure all of our patio furnishings, windchimes, hanging lights and plants, either by strapping them down or putting them in the garage.
Space is limited in our Port Aransas home, so we make use of the space inside by pushing furniture aside and adding in additonal items as needed.
Make sure to have drinking water on hand and we even recommend filling your bathtub with water to use for flushing the toilet if the water supply is cutoff.
Other tips for hurricane prep are:
1. Fill up your gas tank. Don't wait till the last minute.
2. Have extra batteries and candles on hand in case you lose power.
3. Stock up on non-perishable food items.
4. Pay attention to local weather conditions and plan to evacuate if needed.
5. Don't forget your pets. Make sure they are in a safe place and have food and water available.
Last -- stay calm and stay safe.
